Bask on Barcelona Holidays

From city exploration to mountain climbing and relaxing on the beach, Barcelona holidays have it all.

Nestled between the Pyrennes Mountains and a gorgeous, Mediterranean coastline, a visit to the capital of Catalonia can be as action-packed or chilled out as you wish. Spend the morning enjoying a café con leche with the locals in the centre of town before packing your flip flops and heading to the beach. When you want a break from the sun, sea and sand, you’ll be able to delve into some rural exploration and enjoy a lunch in the mountains, take a zip train through one of the valleys or embark on a thrilling mountain climb.

Take to the Sea

Whether you’re travelling as a family, couple or group of friends, you’re sure to find accommodation to suit your needs. From plush city centre hotels in the heart of town to cosy apartments with the beach on their doorstep, Barcelona holidays offer a world of choice.

If soaking up the city vibe is on the top of your to-do list, then base yourself around Placa Catalnuya and enjoy the easy access of the main shopping, dining and drinking hotspots. For those who would prefer to enjoy the sun on their skin and the sand between their toes, stay in the historic fisherman’s district, Barceloneta, for a getaway you won’t forget. After enjoying a complete makeover in preparation for the 1992 Olympics, but still retaining its historic charm, it’s the perfect place to get the best of both worlds in the dynamite European city.

City Exploration

Blessed with plenty of year-round sunshine, Barcelona holidays are wonderfully versatile. You’ll find the summer season starts in May and ends in late October, giving you plenty of time to kick back and relax on the beach. The winter months are pretty chilly, but its convenient location makes it a wonderful place to base yourself for a skiing trip.

When it comes to city exploration, Barcelona tops the list. With plenty of cultural pockets of wonder on hand and once home to the magnificent Antoni Gaudi, there’s no end to the surprises you will find. Las Ramblas is a great place to begin your holiday, and it’s here that you’ll be able to barter for a bargain with the locals who visit the famous La Boqueria marketplace. Close by you’ll find El Gotic, a gorgeous district with narrow winding streets that hide top-notch restaurants and hideaway bars.

If there’s one thing you’ll find easy on holidays to Barcelona, it’s navigation. With all streets running parallel, aside from Avinguda Diagonal, finding your way around this fascinating city is simple. There’s also a fantastic metro system which will take you to all the top city attractions in a matter of minutes; you’ll even be able to get signal on your mobile phone down there!
